Octavio Sanchez resides in Fontana California. He’s been married for 22 years to Vanette Sanchez and is the proud father of Jacob, Octavio, Jaslyn, Ryan and Avery. Octavio graduated from Mt. View High School in El Monte and joined the United States Marine Corps on August 18, 1998.

While in service to country he served as a machine gunner with Fox Co. weapons platoon 2nd Battalion 5th Marines. He would later receive orders to Weapons Field Training Battalion where he served as a Primary Marksmanship Instructor. Upon completion as an instructor Octavio received orders to Charlie Co. 1st Battalion 5th Marines and deployed to Ramadi, Iraq as a squad leader for 4th platoon.

While in Ramadi, Octavio was the convoy commander to Charlie Company’s “quick reaction force (QRF).” On June 16, 2005 while conducting combat operations, Octavio’s convoy struck an improvised explosive device (IED). The blast left Octavio with 69% 3rd degree burns that would change his life forever.

Currently Octavio serves as the Director of Frontsight Military Outreach. FrontSight helps veterans both men and women overcome the struggles of life after service by sharing the transforming power of a life filled with Jesus Christ.
