Genesis 16:3

“Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan.” After ten years of waiting and not going the way they thought, Sarai came up with her own plan. Abram went along with that plan. If one or both had sought the Lord’s council things would have gone better. We go through the same. We have plans, we want things to go the way we think it should. We wait patiently and impatiently. We even wait years for results. Waiting years for children to come to know Jesus. Years of illness to heal. Years for a marriage to change.

The result is often the same, we decide I am going to do it my way with my own plan, never seeking the Lord, never fully trusting the Lord, never fully understanding why it is taking so long. Even when we know a time frame, we want things now. In our world of fast results, fast food, fast delivery, we want things now. The reality is many times we need to endure in the Lord.

Prayer:
Lord, I need to always seek you first in all decisions. Lord help me to be patient in what you are doing in my life and the ministry.
