1st Samuel 25:28

“Please forgive the trespass of your maidservant. For the LORD will certainly make for my lord an enduring house, because my lord fights the battles of the LORD, and evil is not found in you throughout your days.”

To fight the battles of the Lord, is not against flesh and blood. It is a battle against the kingdom of darkness. David a man after God’s own heart, a man who had no evil in him, a man that only wanted to do what the Lord wanted. This is why David fought the Lord’s battles. The truth is the Lord does not need for us to defend Him or fight for Him, but he brings us along the journey and the battle.

What does it look like to fight for the Lord? It is doing what He called us to do. In David’s life it was killing Goliath, leading battles against an army that would wipe the people out, it was preparing his son to build the temple. When we look at the lives of the apostles it was helping feed the 5,000, casting out demons, healing the sick, preaching the Gospel. Today we fight the Lord’s battles not because He needs us to but because He has called us. The Lord has redeemed us with His blood, and now has put a calling on my life, your life. The battle I am called to is to teach people the Word of God, to know the Lord in a very intimate personal way, to be born again, to walk in the Spirit, and allowing Jesus to be the Lord of their lives. If the Lord is in it, the victory is already there.

Prayer:
Lord help me to know my calling on my life, help me to fight the battles you have called me to.
