Matthew 7:17-20

Today I would like to share with you Matthew 7:17-20, “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” What kind of person are you? Do your actions bear good fruit or bad fruit? When a tree bears bad fruit, it is because there is a disease moving throughout the tree. It can cause the tree to die in its roots and it will make the tree weak so that it cannot stand against the wind. The tree will eventually dry out and only be good for firewood. At other times, trees bear bad fruit because they are not getting nutrients from the ground, nor are they getting the water they need. Spiritually it is the same for us; we can have a lack of spiritual nourishment. This can come about from being fed the wrong things spiritually, refusing to let the Lord deal with your heart, or just straight rebellion in your spirit. The reality is, we all need the living water that can only come from the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit lives inside you, He brings up living waters that flow out of you that brings forth beautiful fruit. Fruit only God can produce in us by His power. Does the fruit in your life show that you are of the Lord or the spirit of this world?
